The release of this pattern is an announcement to my beloved knitting community: my husband and I are expecting our first child.
This is a whole new step in our lives, and what is more fitting than for a new step, than something to take that step in. Albeit, not something for us, this new pattern is for a pair of newborn baby booties.
The design was born from having nothing but 4mm needles and a fingering weight yarn with me, whilst away celebrating our first wedding anniversary. I guess we will have to get used to being creatively resourceful!

Materials:
- Artists Palette Yarns Smoothie Sock x 1 skein (425m/ 100g) – only about 20g is needed for a pair
- 4.0mm circular knitting needles
- 2 x 10mm Buttons
- Darning Needle
Difficulty:
Beginner – Skills Used:
- Knit & Purl
- Increases & Decreases
Sizing:
- Gauge: This is not overly important
- Finished Measurements: Newborn
How Do I Get The Pattern
This pattern, as with all my patterns, is available only through Ravelry. The pattern page is here, and I am making this a forever free pattern in my collection due to the significance of it’s creation.

Best wishes,
Sam xox
