When I started my first business, Gradiance Yarns (rebranded to Fated Yarns in 2019), I did a similar exercise. I listed 20 random facts about me from my perspective of me being obsessed with knitting.

As time has gone on, I’ve come to realise that I am not obsessed with knitting. My inner self loves to create, and knitting facilitates that, as well as being relaxing. It makes me happy.

I firmly believe that the only thing we can ever truly want in life is to be happy. And with this revelation in mind, I have chosen to list 20 things that I find happiness in.

  1. The obvious one first. I enjoy knitting.
  2. Still quite obvious. I enjoy squishing yarn.
  3. I enjoy travelling the world and visiting new places with my husband (and now my son too.)
  4. I enjoy being around water – the sea, a lake, a river or a stream, a pond.
  5. I enjoy being around trees.
  6. I appreciate walking in the countryside.
  7. I enjoy noticing the colours of the world around me.
  8. I adore watching the breeze over a field of barley – it looks just like waves in the sea!
  9. I enjoy watching a spider creating its web.
  10. I enjoy taking the time to notice the little things in the world – the breeze in the trees, a flower on the side of the road, a bird sitting on a fence.
  11. I enjoy gardening.
  12. I enjoy watching films from my childhood.
  13. I enjoy listening to the music my parents grew up listening to because this is also what I grew up listening to.
  14. I’m happy if fish and chips and a walk around Needham Lake take up my entire evening.
  15. I enjoy swimming.
  16. I enjoy food, whether it be healthy or not. I don’t count calories.
  17. I take pleasure in learning new things.
  18. I enjoy sharing what I’ve learnt.
  19. I enjoy helping others get through a problem and learning from it.
  20. I enjoy helping others find happiness.

So, these are some of the things that make me happy. What makes you happy in life?
